Has anyone experienced this issue before / have a fix? I believe if I continue selecting "retry" I can slowly complete the download, however it only ever downloads 40-60mb (of the 6gb) at a time. I even connected directly to the modem via an Ethernet cable and the same error occurred. I checked the Mac settings to ensure there wasn't an issue in the energy savings settings or with the actual connection. (Note that all other internet programs continue to function normally) Please check internet connection" there is an option to cancel or retry, when I click retry the download continues, repeating the above process of slowing and eventually failing. The download speed gradually reduces (and estimated time remaining increases) until eventually the download stops with an error with words to the effect "Downlod Failed. After I click "Get" El Capitan starts downloading. I am using the link via the Apple support page to open El Capitan in the App Store.

I am attempting to update my sisters iMac (27" late 2009 Model) to the new OSX Sierra and I understand I first have to install El Capitan.
